I found a fab book at the thrift store a few weeks ago.
Yup, $1.89 for a copy of "The Night Before Christmas," published in 1952 and in great condition.
My mind was flying with the possibilities of what I could use the colorful and "old school" illustrations for.
I decided on a little banner.

No, my Christmas tree is not up! I have lovely juniper bushes in my front yard that helped me out with the photo shoot. |
I used my tag shaped craft punch (I LUV that thing and use it ALL the time) to capture some great parts of the illustrations on each page.
I backed each tag with heavy duty brown card stock and weathered the edges.
I printed off the message, "Merry Christmas," cut each letter out and weathered those edges too. Then I strung it with some thin jute for a rustic, unique, and vintage banner!
I am selling them in my ETSY shop and have made 3 so far. I still have about 20 pages of the book left and am trying to brainstorm another project!

Great idea..love the garland!
